Horses, Ponies And Mules

We have 40 horses, ponies and 3 mules in our care

TOM

Tom has only recently joined us at the sanctuary, he is a retired racehorse, He has already made loads of new friends so we know he will enjoy his retirement. 

Scrumpy

Scrumpy was born at the sanctuary. She was Truly’s foal. Scrumpy is a good natured, excitable, girly mare. When she was weaned from Truly, Sonny started looking out for her and they was close friends until sadly the day he died.

Scrumpy has never known anything bad happen to her. She has had a gifted life.

CARLEY

Carly is 27 years old, she is black with a white blaze from her forelock to her muzzle and white socks. she was Truly’s older daughter and Scrumpy’s sister.

BLUEBELL

Bluebell is 30 years old, one of our oldest resident, she came to the sanctuary in 2018 because of her health issues, she suffers from laminitis.

ZORRO

Milly

KAISEY

Kaisey is a piebald cob, Kaisey has been at the sanctuary for four years due to behavioural issues, but now Kaisey is relaxed, very happy and has many friends. 

Azrah

Azrah was an unwanted foal and came to our sanctuary with an almighty chip on his shoulder. He can be very aggressive with other horses and, if the mood takes him, he can be aggressive with people. Thankfully the aggression has mellowed a little over the years but he still goes out in the paddock alone.

Kitty

 Kitty is 7 years old, she came to us because she has a condition called laminitis: this is managed at the sanctuary, so that she stays well.

Banner

Banner is a Shetland pony that was unwanted at 7 months old. We gave him a home and he is a very cheeky lad.

Lady

Lady is 18 years old, she has been at the sanctuary for about 6 years.

Red

Red is 22 year old hunter,  he came to the sanctuary for his retirement in 2018. 

Maddie and Chocolate

Maddie and her foal Chocolate are two ponies. Maddie is also Banner’s mum; when she arrived, she recognized Banner immediately and a happy reunion took place! We have 3 travellers youngsters called Dante, Tao and Raj. They came to us very young and wild. we spent a lot of time getting them around and now they are delightful young geldings.

Bobby, Beano, Ella and Big Rosie came all the way from Southern Ireland when their owner a very close friend of the sanctuary passed away. It was his wish that his much loved horses lived out their days at Greenland Grove animal Sanctuary. They are much loved horses with us too.

HEIDI

Heidi is a beautiful grey, but as you can see she often loves to roll in the sand paddock, she has been at the sanctuary from 2022.  

Jack

Jack came to us due to health and behaviour issues. 

Bobby

Bobby, one of four horses, came all the way from Southern Ireland when their owner a very close friend of the sanctuary passed away. It was his wish that his much loved horses lived out their days at Greenland Grove animal Sanctuary. They are much loved horses with us too.

Rosie "BIG"

Rosie also known as “Big Rosie” One of four horses, came all the way from Southern Ireland when their owner a very close friend of the sanctuary passed away. It was his wish that his much loved horses lived out their days at Greenland Grove animal Sanctuary. They are much loved horses with us too.

Ella

Ella, one of four horses, came all the way from Southern Ireland when their owner a very close friend of the sanctuary passed away. It was his wish that his much loved horses lived out their days at Greenland Grove animal Sanctuary. They are much loved horses with us too.
